Community rules

Contribute to the record without turning people into targets

Community participation in LAST KNOWN is structured around improving the case record. It is not an open accusation forum, social competition, or a place to organize contact with people connected to a case.

Permitted contribution types

  • Source submissions that can be reviewed and traced.
  • Citation challenges tied to a specific published claim.
  • Factual correction proposals.
  • Claim-specific research questions.
  • Contradiction flags identifying records that appear to conflict.
  • Unanswered-question proposals that identify a genuine information gap.

Community submissions do not become canonical facts automatically. They require moderation and editorial review before they can affect the published case record.

Prohibited conduct

  • Harassment, threats, intimidation, or vigilantism.
  • Doxxing, private addresses, protected contact details, or attempts to identify protected anonymous people.
  • Unsupported accusations presented as fact.
  • Coordinating surveillance, confrontation, contact campaigns, or interference with an investigation.
  • Impersonating law enforcement, journalists, family members, attorneys, or other people connected to a case.
  • Publishing protected, stolen, revenge, or unlawfully obtained private material.
  • Suspect voting, guilt percentages, guilt scores, leaderboards, karma, or competitive “sleuth” systems.

Tips go to official authorities

LAST KNOWN does not collect criminal tips. Actionable information belongs with the verified official tip route displayed in the relevant case record or with the responsible authority directly.

Corrections and disagreements

A disagreement with a published claim should be anchored to the claim and supported with a source whenever possible. Conflicting information is preserved as a conflict when warranted; it is not resolved by popularity.
